Description
Presenters: Alexander Schryvers, Simone Moretto Dental Trauma in Clinical Practice: Evidence-Based Diagnosis and Treatment Dental trauma always occurs unexpectedly and requires a rapid, accurate, and evidence-based approach. But when should you perform an extraction? When is repositioning indicated? Which splint should you choose, and how long should it remain in place? Are antibiotics necessary? And what follow-up treatment should you plan for the weeks following the trauma? During this practice-oriented lecture, you’ll receive clear answers to the most common questions regarding the treatment of dental trauma in permanent teeth. We’ll discuss current scientific guidelines and translate them into concrete decisions you can immediately apply in your daily practice. Topics covered in detail include: Enamel fractures Enamel-dentin fractures Crown-root fractures Root fractures Contusion Subluxation Intrusion Extrusion Lateral luxation Avulsion Using clinical cases and scientifically supported treatment protocols, you’ll learn to make the correct diagnosis, choose the appropriate treatment, and establish an appropriate aftercare plan. This will put you in a stronger position when the next trauma patient takes a seat in your chair. Intensive training in aesthetic composite restorations Composite is currently the most widely used restorative material in restorative and aesthetic dentistry. Thanks to its excellent physical properties, durability, and natural aesthetics, it remains the first choice for high-quality restorations. However, a predictable and aesthetic result requires more than just good material. A thorough understanding of adhesive techniques, layering, anatomy, and finishing is essential for creating high-quality, durable restorations. This intensive, hands-on training course is designed for practicing dentists who wish to refine and expand their skills in aesthetic composite restorations. During the course, you will learn, among other things: Modern adhesive techniques Layer-by-layerlayering and stratification of composite Anatomical shaping Color selection and aesthetic integration Finishing and polishing Predictable restorative workflows Practical tips for daily applications With a strong combination of scientific rationale and practical exercises, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills to perform high-quality composite restorations with greater confidence, efficiency, and predictability. Dental Trauma Correctly recognize, classify, and diagnose the various forms of dental trauma in permanent teeth. Distinguish between trauma to the tooth (enamel fracture, enamel-dentin fracture, crown-root fracture, and root fracture) and trauma to the periodontium (contusion, subluxation, intrusion, extrusion, lateral luxation, and avulsion). Understand the physiology and wound healing of the periodontium and apply this knowledge when selecting the appropriate treatment. Apply evidence-based treatment protocols for an avulsed tooth, including proper storage media, replantation, timing, splinting technique, and follow-up care. Develop a well-founded treatment plan for luxations and subluxations, including repositioning, indications for splinting, type of splint, and duration of immobilization. Select the appropriate treatment strategy for crown fractures, crown-root fractures, and root fractures, with attention to prognosis and long-term follow-up. Correctly assess the indications for endodontic treatment, pharmacological support, and clinical follow-up in accordance with current scientific guidelines. Analyze clinical cases and make evidence-based decisions in daily practice. Aesthetic composite restorations Perform accurate and predictable shade selection for aesthetic anterior restorations. Correctly apply the indications for enamel, dentin, and body shades within modern layering techniques. Select the appropriate composite viscosity and material properties for each clinical indication. Achieve anatomically correct build-up and natural shaping of anterior restorations. To integrate translucency, opalescence, and other aesthetic effects in a controlled manner into direct composite restorations. Apply an efficient and reproducible protocol for finishing and high-gloss polishing. Perform predictable, durable, and aesthetically superior composite restorations according to current principles of restorative and adhesive dentistry.
